Marlowe Farms is a new home community in Loris that has not yet begun development. There are planned to be approximately 250 single family units in this Loris new home community of Marlowe Farms. This new home community is located just off of Highway 66 and Hewitt Road.
UPDATE: In late May 2023, the plan to build roughly 250 homes outside of Loris, near Loris Middle School, headed to Horry County Council with a recommendation to deny it from being built. That was the result when a unanimous planning commission vote followed several outspoken residents sharing their opposition to the development of Marlowe Farms. The plan proposes to take roughly 120 acres and see 247 homes built along Hewitt Road and Highway 66.
Site planners for the project said the old farmland was ideal and had several areas for drainage adding that stormwater runoff would be a nonissue for neighboring communities. However, it was the concern of putting hundreds of new residents on the farm-to-market highway that motivated roughly a dozen neighbors to share their opposition to the request.
